Never Judge a Book

You know that old saying. The one that reminds you that things are not always as they seem. Nothing could be more true around here these days. We had another concealed carry class this weekend, and because a few folks did not show up, we had an all women’s class. (Note: etiquette would typically prompt one to call and advise if not attending, by hey, it is 2020 and etiquette has been long lost). Anyway, what an incredible class! One student had never shot a gun, one was teeny tiny but fierce, and one was a member who shoots here every weekend with her husband. Looking at the group, you never would have pegged these beautiful women as warriors. But they were! With extra time on the range, these ladies were able to fire several different firearms, work multiple drills under stress and fine tune their shooting skills. They rose to the challenge and then some. At the end, each took home a qualifying target with a score of 100%. As Mr. T would say, I pity the fool that messes with any of these gals!

On a side note, I have to say that I am super proud of my husband. We have been inundated with training requests and classes. The atmosphere in today’s world has people fearful and clamoring for ways to learn how to safely and appropriately defend themselves should the need arise. Teaching and training is Kent’s passion and his gift. He has worked tirelessly to provide individuals from ALL walks of life with the tools and skills they need at this critical time, just as he has for years. For those of you who have had the opportunity to train with him and to get to know him, I hope you came away feeling confident in your training and skills, but also in his desire and ability to take you to the next level. The recent feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, and I could not be more thankful that Kent is fortunate to spend his time and energy doing what he loves.

As proud as I am of Kent and C2, 2020 has been challenging for us and many individuals across this nation. The social, political, economic and religious landscape has been a tumultuous mess. The world today is full of social media pundits with minimal knowledge, false facts, misinformation and just plain hatred for other people. Even for people they do not know. I’m not sure if they were ever taught respect or kindness. Or if they know the true meaning of “think before you speak.” I am, however, certain that if they had the correct facts and information, or if they bothered to research “why” instead of speculating, the vile drivel would cease. Unfortunately, like many in business or the public eye, Kent and C2 have not been immune from this negative chatter. Maybe the world needs to revisit simple life lessons like “don’t judge a book by its cover” or those in Robert Fulghum’s “All I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.”

Regardless of any obstacles, C2 continues to move forward with the mission of providing top-notch training for civilians, military and law enforcement, as well as offering a premier facility for Members who are responsible and serious about the sport of shooting. We are committed to creating an atmosphere where Members feel safe, respected and part of a community. We are committed to providing training that is realistic, challenging, innovative and useful. We appreciate our Members, students and contract customers, and we will strive to continue to meet the ever evolving needs of our entire shooting family. We THANK YOU for your business. We THANK YOU for trusting us with your shooting and self-defense instructional needs. We THANK YOU for your positive feedback and encouragement. And we look forward to seeing you – and the warrior ladies from this class – out on the range!
